Many importers are surprised when their goods are held at the port — not because of duty, but because of certification.

What is Mandatory SNI?

Indonesian National Standards are voluntary in principle. But for certain product categories the government makes them mandatory. Products in these categories may not be traded without a certificate.

Building Material Categories Already Covered

• Ceramic tiles
• Sanitaryware (toilets, basins)
• Light steel roof trusses
• Stainless steel sinks

Other categories such as cement, rebar, electrical cable and safety helmets are widely believed to be covered — but the official list should be verified directly with BSN as regulations change.
